Our father and grandfather, Michael “Pop” Fisher, never let cancer steal his happiness. Instead of getting depressed that the grass could be greener if only he didn’t have cancer, he kept his spirits high by focusing on the green grass he had. His daily reminder and mantra was “green side up!”

This is the ethos and inspiration we want to share with young people and families battling cancer. We established the Green Side Up Foundation in 2013 to assist the largest hospital in our region, Mission Hospital, raise more support for the patients they served at Mission Children's world-class Cancer Center.

After Mission was acquired by for-profit hospital HCA in 2018, Green Side Up teamed up with our region’s largest non-profit hospital AdventHealth. We have also grown to provide direct assistance to local families with a child or children battling cancer.

Your contributions to the Green Side Up Foundation go directly to immediate needs such as the following:

• Paying rent to keep families in their homes during these stressful times;

• Snacks and meals for hungry, low-income children who travel long distances and have long cancer treatment procedures;

• iPads, books and games to help children focus on fun while experiencing scary or intimidating things like chemotherapy;

• Uplifting and healing experiences like visits from a therapy dog or music therapy;

• Family trips to Dollywood to continue enjoying childhood and life;

• Arts and crafts with a nurturing and loving art teacher; and,

• Much more!
